Accessibility Statement

Our commitment to an accessible website and experience, for every guest

Last updated: 8 June 2026

Our promise

Castillo Coveta strives to make its website and facilities accessible to everyone, regardless of ability, technology or circumstance. We do not regard accessibility as a choice, but as a fundamental part of genuine hospitality.

This statement describes how we work on the accessibility of castillocoveta.es and our physical facilities, which known limitations exist, and how to reach us should you encounter an obstacle.

Standard & level

We aim for conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA. This is the international guideline for digital accessibility and the standard applied within the European Union (EN 301 549).

What we have implemented

  • Semantic HTML5 with a correct heading hierarchy, landmarks and ARIA attributes
  • Alternative text for images that convey information
  • Full keyboard accessibility for all interactive elements
  • Visible focus indicators on links and buttons
  • Responsive design that works well at 200% zoom and on all devices
  • Sufficient colour contrast for important text (at least 4.5:1)
  • Clear link text that remains understandable out of context
  • Forms with associated labels and error messages
  • A menu that can be operated with both mouse and keyboard
  • Support for prefers-reduced-motion for users sensitive to motion

Known limitations

We are honest about where we are still making improvements:

  • Video content: Not all video content currently has full captions or a text alternative. This is a priority for Q2 2026.
  • Decorative images: A small percentage of decorative images is missing an empty alt attribute; this is being corrected in phases.
  • Parallax effects: The homepage contains parallax scrolling that we will automatically disable for prefers-reduced-motion in the next release.
  • Legacy PDFs: Older PDF documents are not yet fully optimised for screen readers.

Physical accessibility

Castillo Coveta is housed in a historic castle building on a hilltop. This brings with it certain natural challenges that we strive to address as best we can:

What is available

  • Adapted parking space near the main entrance
  • Lift between the main floors
  • One fully wheelchair-accessible suite on the ground floor
  • Accessible public restrooms on the main level
  • Guidance and assistance on arrival (on request)
  • Staff available with a basic knowledge of sign language (upon request)

Points to note

  • Access to the estate is via a slope; the use of a lift is not possible in every case due to historic constraints
  • Parts of the Mediterranean garden are unpaved and therefore less suitable for wheelchairs
  • A few suites on the upper floors are only reachable via stairs

Please contact us prior to your booking so that we may discuss your specific needs and suggest a suitable suite or route.

Dietary requirements, allergies & special needs

Our kitchen is well versed in preparing meals for a variety of allergies and diets: gluten-free, lactose-free, vegetarian, vegan, kosher and halal. Please share your requirements two weeks before arrival so that we can fully prepare for your stay.

Assistance dogs

Recognised assistance dogs are welcome in all public areas and in your suite. We kindly ask that you notify us in advance with your booking so that we can prepare a suitable stay.

Feedback & contact

Do you encounter an accessibility issue on our website or during a visit? Please let us know. We take every report seriously and aim to respond within two working days.

Review & updates

We review this statement at least twice a year and with every major release of our website. We carry out the audits using a combination of automated tools (axe-core, WAVE, Lighthouse) and manual testing, including testing with screen readers (NVDA, VoiceOver) and keyboard navigation.
